About WOW Kids

When my daughter, Paris, began interning in the inner city schools as a college

student she asked if we could begin ministering to the children there. Our

family agreed and we began working with the children in the Emma Wheeler

Projects. God opened some amazing doors that allowed us to take them to the

Biltmore House in North Carolina, on a mission trip to Atlanta and a variety of

other places. Our favorite place we took them to was church each Sunday. We

had more children wanting to go to church then we could take, even with two

fifteen passenger vans. It was a constant burden to have to turn children away.

During the summer we were asked to help with a VBS in the Emma Wheeler

Project's recreational building. What a joy it was to see 100 children walking to

the service each evening. I knew we couldn't ask the children to wait until the

following summer to hear more about Jesus. I knew we needed to stay and continue on with what the Lord was doing. - Kara Akins
